Wendy has extensive experience in injury prevention research having worked across a wide range of settings (road safety, home, sport and leisure, etc) and across all age-groups. Her main areas of experience and expertise have been in injury epidemiology, consumer product safety and measuring the burden of injury. Importantly, her research has been translated into practice from informing policy to providing evidence to support regulatory change.

Her expertise is being recognised internationally through invitations to participate in an expert consultancy on estimating the burden of violence for the WHO in Geneva, to assist in the editing and revision of the TEACH-VIP curriculum and to participate in a WHO working group contributing to the World Report on Child Injury.

Current research interests include evaluating the impact of injury prevention policies, injury outcomes measurement, the determinants of disability following injury and the cost-effectiveness analyses of interventions.
